Coin purse
As today is 29th February, I told myself that I have to blog about something to commemorate this once-every-four-years event. :) So today I wanted to share a recent craft project that I've completed. I made a coin purse using my own fabric design (available here for purchase via Spoonflower).
I specifically picked this pattern and coin purse frame thinking that using glue to attach the fabric to the frame would make everything simpler. Wrong! The glue made everything fiddly... :P Despite the glue mess, the coin purse turned out quite pretty. So I'm happy. :)
What recent craft project have you completed? Have you ever made a coin purse before? I would love to hear your tips on attaching the frame to the fabric or any other tips! ^^
Love,

Vintage buttons
Like everything in my life at the moment, things get put on hold. I've been meaning to blog about these vintage buttons that I got last year and never got around it. I can blame the PhD or other parts of my life but really it is me. LOL And since the season of Lent is upon us and personal changes are encouraged, I'm trying to do things that I feel I should. Like blogging more often... after all, blogging is a form of reflection.
Anyway, I got these beautiful vintage buttons at a vintage button sale last year. I got them so I could make jewellery out of them. However, as I was paying for them the lady at the shop told me a little about the history of some of the buttons I got. Apparently some are from the 1920's with distinctive features. Knowing that, it is simply impossible for me to cut or even apply glue to these lovely pieces to make into jewellery. I may have to think again about what I can do with them or even how I can still make jewellery but still preserving these beautiful buttons as best as I can...
Meanwhile, they are still a source of inspiration as they are. :)

The joy of books and gifting
I wanted to take time to feature a book that I recently bought. Reversible Knitting
is definitely a book to have for advanced knitters who are ready to move beyond the simple knit-purl, cabling and lace patterns. The reason why this book is so attractive to me is because the knit stitches introduced literally blew my mind. Yes. They did. From mock-crochet stitch patterns to knitting in little circles, this book is a revolutionary addition to the stitch library (at least in my opinion....). This book also comes with patterns for projects, though I'm not too keen on them. But then again, I buy knitting books for inspiration for my personal projects and this book has plenty of that.
This post is inspired by Greta who told me about Book Giving Day. I didn't really realise the significance of the day until I did some research on it. Next year, this will be on my list to do for Valentine's Day. :)
Books certainly makes a wonderful gift albeit the book should either fit the occasion or the person. My friend just had her bridal shower and I thought this book
was pretty apt. ^_-
What book have you read bought or read recently? And do book giving you joy too?

Valentine's Day 2012 - Little Celebrations
I had wanted to do a book post seeing that Greta (from Something by the Virtue of Nothing) had mentioned that 14th of February is a Book Giving Day too... But I thought it would be apt to do a post on how I celebrated my Valentine's Day first. I'm a bit OCD, I guess...;;^^
I love celebrations as it is an opportunity for me to get all crafty. I made my husband a pop-up card with the help of the template I got from minico.co.uk which I covered in one of my past posts here. I finished it all off by using my stamping collection. This is our 6th Valentine's Day together since we've dated but I think it is very important to take the time to have little celebrations. Especially in a marriage it is very easy to settle into routines... :)
I hope all of you had a lovely Valentine's Day too. :)
