Mix and match

Even no matter how busy I am, I have to eat... LOL So the other day while waiting for my take-away lunch from one of my favourite Korean restaurant (Darac), I snapped this photo. I thought it is so interesting the effect of mismatched chairs had and the sense of whimsy that it had added to the decor of this place.

It made me think, who said a table chair setting had to match anyway? Or even anything else in life?

It's dangerous out there...

I saw this in the hall way, outside my PhD room. This made me laugh....

... so I took a sidekick when I went home. :)

Happy weekend!

Ireland

Wicklow Mountains, Ireland
Taken with a Sprocket Rocket
Earlier this month, I went for a conference in Dublin, Ireland. Due to changes within my school where travel funds are non-existent for PhD students, I had to pay for my own trip. So I turned it into a holiday trip instead. :)

Ireland is a really beautiful country blessed with plenty of rain and gentle sun. The sun is perfect for photography. We were lucky to be able to visit other places outside Dublin and I will be blogging about some of these places. And, I also managed to find some good places to buy textile/craft products and yarns! :)

Just a photo a day

Taken at Gero Onsen, Japan - 14th April 2011
Camera: Nikon D60

Unfortunately, study and real life takes precedence for now. I think I may have to resort to blogging with a single photo for a while (borrowing ideas from the August Daybreak that Anna and Blisschic took part in ^^)

I think I may have over-committed myself... but normal blogging will resume when things have settled down.

Randomness and pining away...

I've been crafting away these past few days as finally after starting my postgraduate studies, I actually had me-time. I wanted to share what I've been doing but unfortunately there was no sun today, so I could not take nice photos of what I have done.

Instead, I'll share some of the photos that I took over the weekend with my Holga lenses on Nikon D60.

Also, I have been pining away with Pinterest, if you so wish, would you like to follow me there?

Blue

I got my Holga lenses for my Nikon D60 and I took it for test shots around the city over the weekend. Overall, I'm happy with it as it combines the Holga-goodness and the Nikon-goodness, and post-processing options. My favourite photo for the day was the splatter shot (2nd photo).

I'm loving the blue with the greens and white... maybe this can be a design inspiration? Hmmm...

Colours in the sky

Melbourne had a beautiful weekend, with these gorgeous colours in the sky during the sunset on the Sunday evening. It seems like spring is coming... yet, I'm not ready for winter to be over.

At the end of the rain, there is always a rainbow...

.... or two. This photo was taken over the weekend. Though the second rainbow is quite faint in the photo, it is still quite visible.

Over the weekend, I went for the Craft and Quilt Show which was very fun. I'll show photos of my loot next time. ^^

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend too, and Happy Monday!

Though I am not playing along this time, play along with Anna with Much Love Monday. What do you love on Monday? ^^

A cool ride

I spotted this Vespa in the city over the weekend. I just think it is cool to have a pink Vespa. How girlie chic is this?

Happy Monday!

Travel Photography - Nakazaki-cho, Osaka (Part 1)

One of the places that I visited while in Japan was Osaka. In Osaka, there is an area of old houses and some of these old houses have been converted into cute shops. These cute shops are located in Nakazaki-cho. Some of the shops sell 2nd hand/vintage items, while some sells hand-made items. Nakazaki-cho is the Osaka version of Melbourne's Brunswick Street or Singapore's Haji Lane. It definitely worth a visit if you are in Osaka area. ^^

In my next post I'll talk about some of the shops I visited while I was there. ^^

View from the top

This photo was taken at The Convent Gallery @ Daylesford using Nikon D60.
The quaint little window that they had at the top-most floor  framed the Daylesford landscape view and I thought it was beautiful! ^^

Back to knitting

Finally got back to knitting after the summer season. Although, it wasn't much of a summer, it did take me a while to get back to knitting. Having friends who want to get back into it is certainly encouraging to finish old projects and start new ones. I had a blast inviting the girls over for a knitting morning tea. Above are images of my new green scarf (remember my green obsession?) knitted in diagonal checks. Will share the pattern when the scarf is complete.

Meanwhile, if you want to see more lovely images of the knitting session through Miss Anna's lenses, head over to Much Love. ^^

Double exposure effect

The beauty of taking photos with a manual camera is the ability to take photos using double exposure. This picture, on the other hand is captured using my blackberry camera. I love how this accidental capture turned out!

We took a small trip...

... and left our normal daily lives behind for a day.

A few weeks ago we took a small break and left for a mini-honeymoon in lovely Daylesford.
I will blog more about that trip soon. :)
